Ophthalmology

It is important that any eye problems in horses are rapidly diagnosed and treated if permanent damage to the eye and eyesight is to be avoided. For this reason I recommend a prompt veterinary assessment for apparently even minor eye problems.

I am experienced in treating eye conditions such as:

  • Cataract (in the early phase)
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Equine Recurrent Uveitis
  • Glaucoma
  • Injuries to the eyeball (such as corneal ulcers)
  • Injuries to the eyelid and surrounding tissue

In addition, I provide ocular surgery for conditions including lid lacerations, deep corneal ulcers or perforations, periocular tumours, etc.

There are also a host of other diseases that can cause a swollen, closed or ocular discharge. These need to be addressed quickly to avoid permanent damage.
